👋 Happy Holidays Vibers!

🎉 This past week was eventful for Vibe Stream Network — releasing a short film “The Map” for our partner, Viva Mescal, and launching our metaverse speakeasy “Nexus” in collaboration with DanceFight and Voxbox.

✍️ On 11/22, across from LA Live and during a prime time Laker game, the sounds of “The Map” could be heard blasting in a parking lot transformed to an event space. Viva Mescal teamed up with Sueno to host a dual launch party for both of their new releases. It seemed like East LA royalty rolled out the red carpet with low riders, authentic food, limited edition merch, performances, and a blow up projector to watch “The Map”. It was truly the perfect premiere to introduce content from a hometown hero Viva Mescal, packaged in a new way.

🧑‍💻 A couple days later, the morning of 11/24, the VSN team unveiled “Nexus” with our first event in the space, Bullish Beats. The Nexus launch featured a virtual concert with livestreamed performances and DJ sets. Those that attended were able to explore the DanceFight space and purchase 3D animated dance moves from 10 of the top dancers in the world that have performed on their app! Users were then able to equip the moves they liked and bust them out during our live concert. The proceeds go towards the dancers (DanceFight has already distributed over $50,000 in royalties to dancers around the world).

🤘 The setlist included original beats from our Co-Founder, Journey Meta, unreleased songs from our CEO Tre Rail, and a headline performance from Viva Mescal featuring songs from the soundtrack of “The Map”.

New Revenue Models

🔎 You don’t have to be deeply involved in the entertainment industry to see that there are some changes happening - fast!

📛 While streaming has been an incredible advancement for consumers, the companies that provide these services seldom make profit. In fact, only Netflix out of all video streaming platforms has been able to yield profit to date (CNBC). Music streaming services were finally able to turn profits after many years, but this is increasingly difficult as they compete with artificial streams, poor payout infrastructure, and bad actors gaming the system (Spotify). Often times, the payout is so small that it does not outweigh the bank fee for transfer and therefore creators get $0. Plus, “starting in early 2024, tracks must have reached at least 1,000 streams in the previous 12 months in order to generate recorded royalties” (Spotify). If the companies are not making money off of subscriptions, how can we expect the upcoming creators to get paid?

🌇 This has caused a mass exodus of independent creators to Web3, where they can package their material and sell direct to consumers around the world. This is why Vibe Stream Network exists - to provide new opportunities and access to creators and fans of all mediums. VSN is the one-stop-shop for quality creators to unveil meaningful experiences for their fans to own and enjoy in a familiar way that doesn’t require technical know-how.

🗒️ An example would be our latest release with Viva Mescal. Rather than paying out per-stream, Mescal generates $10 per sale on each Intro Pack. After 30 sales, Mescal has netted $300 in the 3 weeks it has been available. For reference, across platforms the low end payout per-stream is $0.0018 and high end is $0.021 per stream (RouteNote). To make $300 on streaming platforms, you would need between 14,285-166,666 streams. Which is easier to achieve, 30 sales or tens of thousands of streams?

🆙 We realize the convenience factor that streaming platforms have provided is currently unmatched. However, the impact that a purchase makes on an artist is far greater than you could ever achieve streaming that song over and over for months. One purchase of the lowest tier of Viva Mescal’s “The Map” ($25) is equivalent to 7500+ streams on Spotify ($0.0033/stream on average). Additionally, VSN allows for bonus footage and extras like behind-the-scenes or making-of content that gives richer connection to the art (examples found in Viva Mescal’s collectibles).

😁 We are excited to see how these new models continue to develop over time and the adjustments that the industry will make to keep up with the rapid changes.
